What's In A Name?

MWANAFUNZI, Swahili for "student", strives for unity and cohesiveness among minority students and the professional community. MWANAFUNZI provides a structure and forum, through which students of color in social work and related fields can exchange ideas, participate in and sponsor activities, provide adademic support and serve as a valuable resource to one another and the community at large. 

Guiding Principles of MWANAFUNZI

  • To provide a structure and forum through which minority students in social work and related fields can exchange ideas, provide services and programs of interest to minority students and the community at large
  • To promote a spirit of unity amoung minority students, by means of collective efforts in participation of activities within The College of Social Work
  • To provide a means to insure academic support and excellence among minorty students within the College of Social Work
  • To participate in activities that will increase the enrollment of minority students at The Ohio State University
  • To serve as a resource to members of the Columbus community
